Q: Which brands do you service?
A: LeZot Camera Repair works on all major brands, along with most minor ones. These include cameras, lenses, and other equipment made by: Beseler, Bogen, Canon, Casio, Contax, Fuji, Giottos, Gossen, Graflex, Hasselblad, Kalimar, Kodak, Konica, Leica, Leitz, Lomo, Mamiya, Manfrotto, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, Quantaray, Ricoh, Rollei, Schneider, Sigma, Sony, Tamron, Tokina, Vivitar, Yashica, Zeiss, and more!

Q: Do you repair digital cameras?
A: Oh yes, LeZot Camera Repair offers service on today's popular digital models.

Q: Does the repair service for bent Compact Flash (CF) pins also include replacement of missing pins?
A: Yes, we replace any missing, damaged, or weakened pins in all repairs for CF card pins.

Q: Why do I need an Infrared conversion?  Can't I just put an infrared filter on the front of the lens and get the same effect?

An Infrared filter (such as Hoya's R72, or Schott's RG715, or Wratten 89b) blocks nearly all visible light, and transmits infrared.  But digital cameras are built with an internal low-pass filter that does the opposite - it transmits visible, and blocks nearly all infrared light.  So if you simply fit an infrared filter on the front of the lens, all you can record is the stray wavelengths that manage to pass through both the visible-blocking and the IR-blocking filters.  The result is a narrow band of wavelengths, at a very low intensity, which requires long shutter speeds for adequate exposures.  With SLRs, there is the added inconvenience of having to compose without the filter in place (because humans can't see through it), the fix the filter and make the exposure without moving anything or changing any settings.

With our infrared conversion service, the internal low-pass filter (also called a hot mirror) is removed, and it is replaced with an infrared filter.  This way, all existing IR light is recorded, so shutter speeds are very much like an off-the-shelf camera.  And even with SLRs, you can compose and focus through the viewfinder unhindered, because the opaque IR filter is inside the camera, behind the viewing system.

Q: Can infrared converted cameras be used for thermal imaging?

A: Sadly, no.  The sensors of digital cameras are can record wavelengths up to about 1200nm, whereas thermal imaging involves wavelengths more like 8,000nm and up.

Q: Are other types of infrared filter available?

A: Yes, in addition to the Standard, Clear, and Deep IR filters, a wide range of specialized filters are available.  There are too many options for us to list on the website, so if you have specific needs, please contact us (see link at left) with your requirements, and we will work with you to find a filter and price that work for you.

Q: If I buy LeZot's infrared filter to install myself, do you offer instructions?

A: LeZot does not offer instruction for camera service.  There are many websites that do, but you use them at your own risk.

Q: I bought a filter and tried to install it myself, but damaged the camera.  Can you fix it?

A: Yes, we are a full-service repair facility.  Most damage can be repaired, and estimates will be provided on a case-by-case basis.  The price will certainly be higher than our conversion service for your model, and some types of damage are simply uneconomical to repair.

Q: How can I view the status of my order?
A: Go to the Customer Service, Account Information page. This page lists all your orders. Click the date of the order whose status you wish to view. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call us.

Q: What are your shipping costs?
A: You can view an estimate of shipping costs by viewing your cart. However, final shipping costs will be displayed on the Invoice you see before confirming your order. All shipping rates, including the final cost, are calculated based on the average packaged weight of the model in question. Please note that extremely heavy packages that significantly exceed these weight estimates may, in rare cases, result in additional shipping charges. If you contact us with your package weight, we can confirm shipping charges in advance by phone or email.
